This little man was a DREAM.. not to mention he had a pretty cute pup looking over him! I am loving how these lifestyle newborn sessions are coming out lately.  They’re so laid back and casual.  It doesn’t matter if baby is awake or sleeping.. I just let them do their thing!  And, I love being able to incorporate cute mementos like the embroidered blanket below.  <3

Whoa, hello blog.  It has been a while!

Well, some changes are happening to Amy Fansler Photography.  I am now going to focus on where I feel as though my heart is pulling me.. and that is lifestyle newborn photography.  I love the documentary approach because those are the moments you forget.  What the nursery looked like when you just brought the baby home.. how small they felt in your arms.. the little flakes of skin on their fresh faces.. I love it all.  I have been in the posed, naked baby business for a while now.  I have invested countless dollars in studio equipment, props, etc. And have spent hours with workshops learning how to perfect every little finger and toe placement on a blanket.  But, just like everything else, I have evolved.  My style has evolved.  And, I don’t feel drawn to that type of photography anymore.  I know that this may mean that I lose some clients and I do not fault you for that.  If traditional newborn portraits are what you desire, you have every right to shop around and find the right photographer for you.  I am hoping my new style attracts new clients who also dig this laid back approach.  <3

Let’s do this, 2017!

My favorite thing to do at the end of the year is to make a collage showcasing all of the newborns I have had the pleasure of photographing.   I like each of these images for different reasons, and putting them all together makes my heart smile.  I only take on about 2 newborns a month so it is imperative to get on my calendar early.  You can use the contact form in the header, or shoot an email to for more information.

Fall to photographers is April to accountants… our busy season.  And, it makes sense.  In North Carolina, autumn is absolutely perfect with the leaves changing colors and the air turning from hot and humid to crisp and comfortable.  Pumpkin spice everything, tall boots, football season…I.Love.Fall..

So, it is only fitting that most people choose the fall to have their family portraits taken.  For the past few years, I have offered mini sessions during a weekend or two in the fall – usually of two different locations.  The first year, I had a few takers.  The next year I needed to offer an additional day.  And this year, I sold out 4 days in record time.  Wowza.  I was floored.  This year I also rented some lovely props from a local company (Greenhouse Picker Sisters) to give my sessions a little  extra something special.  For example, check out this amazeballs image using their vintage couch, crates, and accessories.  I am so in love and am kind of jealous that this isn’t my family..

With all of this being said, I am not scheduling any more family sessions this year.  Thank you to everyone for their continued support of my small business and I look forward to working with you in the future 🙂  ~Amy
